The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team provides strategic financial and analytical support to our executives and the entire Goodwill Central Texas organization. Following the addition of a Senior Director dedicated to FP&A, FP&A was separated from Accounting and is now a standalone team of 3 reporting to the CFO. In addition to budgeting and forecasting, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for recurring analysis and ad hoc projects. By helping Goodwill make good, fact-based business decisions, this role helps us maximize the dollars we are able to invest in accomplishing our mission.
Be the budgeting and forecasting partner for assigned internal customers. This includes learning their business and understanding their budgets, forecasts, and actuals in order to support good financial management, variance analysis, and communicating results to leadership. (Assigned internal customers may be a mix of revenue-generating business lines and our mission focused services. We currently manage more than 40 business segments of varying complexity.)
Build and / or use Excel models to support fact-based decision making. Examples include providing pro forma modeling of significant changes in how we do business, what-if scenario planning, store profitability analysis, or marketing campaign impact analysis.
Work with internal customers in both structured ways, such as leading monthly review meetings, as well as informally through ad hoc conversations.
Continuously improve processes and support of our internal customers, especially as we move to a new ERP system in 2022 and implement budgeting and forecasting software (vs. Excel) in 2023.
Adopt and leverage Microsoft PowerBI and / or Tableau tools after 2022’s ERP implementation.
Share administrative duties within the FP&A team such as monthly reporting to Goodwill Industries International (GII) and documenting and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrate ethics and comply with our Corporate Compliance Program.
This role has no supervisory responsibility.
Analytical mindset and experience, with at least 4 - 6 years of FP&A experience. Will consider less FP&A experience if complemented by other relevant experience such as consulting.
Bachelor’s degree with an analytical component such as Finance, Math, or Economics.
Strong collaboration, communication, influencing, problem solving, and analytical skills in a customer-focused team environment.
Rockstar Excel skills required, VBA a plus.
Experience in retail or another multi-unit industry, or in nonprofits, is desirable but not required.
Experience with business intelligence tools, ERP systems, and budgeting & forecasting software is desirable but not required.
