POSITION SUMMARY: The Philanthropic Relations Manager plays a vital role as a member of the growing Development team at Goodwill Central Texas. This individual is responsible for executing a wide range of functions pertaining to working with corporate, foundation, and individual donors. The Philanthropic Relations Manager is responsible for managing a prospect pool and for working collaboratively on the Development team to ensure that organizational, departmental, and individual goals are met or exceeded to best serve marginalized Central Texans. Serving in an external-facing role, the Philanthropic Relations Manager works with donors, the external community, Goodwill Central Texas as a whole, and the Development team. RESPONSIBILITIES: Development: Grow and diversify development revenue streams with an emphasis on corporations and foundations (grants and sponsorships) and individuals Work to meet and exceed fundraising goals Fundraise for special events, securing sponsorships and other gifts Draft and submit solicitation materials (grant applications, proposals, other collateral) as well as grant reports (interim, annual, and final) and other stewardship touches on time and as needed; work with internal and external parties to gather information needed to complete projects Contribute ideas for retail fundraising (Round-up) to help meet goals Assist in helping create and nurture a “culture of philanthropy” and an awareness that philanthropy at Goodwill calls for everyone’s participation Research foundations and other funding entities using databases such as Foundation Directory or FoundationSearch Represent Goodwill Central Texas by hosting volunteer and VIP tours when appropriate Help plan and implement fundraising initiatives, strategies, and programs Engage with current and potential funders and partners by attending events on behalf of the organization Assist the team in overall stewardship of donors, especially those who are not managed Portfolio Management: Build new relationships and strengthen existing ones with prospective and existing donors (corporations, foundations, and individuals) and manage a portfolio of 75 – 150 prospects to increase support of Goodwill Central Texas Research funding opportunities (grant, sponsorship, and other), complete calls and visits, and determine strategies for moving forward, while actively pursuing funding from funders, prospects, and donors on time and as needed Create and maintain grants and reports calendar Use moves management to build upon an existing portfolio of donors and grow that portfolio Maintain and record constituent interactions in Raiser’s Edge and on other platforms Develop and implement a comprehensive stewardship plan for corporate, foundation, and individual donors in collaboration with the Development team that includes, but is not limited to stewardship reports, giving anniversary cards, thank you notes, birthday cards, event invitations, and more Communications: Distill complex program information into ,concise and compelling messages Deliver high-quality customer service and demonstrate aptitude for great listening Communicate effectively in writing and in oral form for a diverse constituency; proofread to ensure effective writing Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills whether in-person or online Establish ongoing communication with current and prospective donors, especially those in portfolio Develop targeted communications and collateral materials in collaboration with Development and Marketing teams Create and deliver professional in-person and online presentations General: Balance multiple projects concurrently, set benchmarks, and establish priorities Learn quickly, pivot as needed, and be effective in a fast-paced, multi-faceted, ambitious environment Possess a “Can Do” attitude and contribute innovative ideas as an active team member Work well independently, as part of a collaborative team, and be open to receiving direction and feedback Follow through on tasks and goals Demonstrate leadership ability Apply high-level critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills when developing and articulating solutions to a variety of situations Plan, implement, and evaluate strategic objectives as needed to achieve goals Demonstrate interpersonal and motivational skills Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability Deliver high-quality work products that require proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and advanced Internet search skills Participate in and contribute to community collaborations and inter-agency discussions Maintain positive team-oriented relationships Share knowledge and information with other employees Demonstrate organization and division values, ethics, and integrity, as well as a commitment to the mission of Goodwill Central Texas REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree (philanthropy, writing, non-profit development, or a related field) Four to seven years of successful corporate and foundation relations experience (securing grants and sponsorships) Demonstrated experience using moves management as part of donor relations cycle Two years of experience (or equivalent) soliciting individuals for contributions Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively in written and oral form Rigorous knowledge and application of fundraising and stewardship practices Possess a full range of knowledge and practice related to prospect identification and development and new donor acquisition, particularly targeted to corporations and foundations; experience using Foundation Directory, FoundationSearch, or similar Demonstrated achievements securing philanthropic investments from foundations, corporations, and individuals and proven success personally soliciting gifts Advanced proficiency in Microsoft and other software products, in particular Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint Experience utilizing a donor database, entering contact reports, and maintaining basic constituent data Experience working effectively in both in-person and virtual platforms Ability to maintain a professional presence PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: CFRE and AFP Member Master’s degree Broad and deep knowledge of and relationships within Central Texas, state-wide, and national funders Five+ years of experience in non-profit fundraising and development, and/or similar revenue- generating professional position with progressive levels of responsibilities and outcomes Experience soliciting and securing planned and in-kind gifts Two to three years of program management experience (grant with budget management, or other)
