The Internship Support Specialist is responsible for providing general support to internship team and clients. The position will focus on site development for paid work opportunities and will provide opportunities for training and career development on the internship site. Additional responsibilities will include working cross departmentally to further the mission of Goodwill Central Texas.
Identify paid work experience opportunities with employers for GCT clients,
Evaluate and assess employer needs to provide a value plan to fulfill workforce needs through paid work experiences.
Advocate on behalf of GCT target populations, educating Central Texas employers on workforce opportunities.
Assess client’s skills and job readiness resulting in placements that meet the needs of both the client and employer.
Communicate effectively with work site supervisors on potential issues and to ensure participant understanding of company policies, procedures and essential functions of the job.
Work side-by-side with assigned participant to ensure execution of job duties, company policies and procedures and proper work behaviors.
Complete accurate enrollment and completion internship records as required by administrative regulations and policies. Accurately enter services and payroll data into ECM and Ultipro as required.
Deliver one-on-one career readiness training for participants.
Achieve key performance indicators including but not limited to job placements and success metrics.
Participate in staff development courses designed to enhance professional and leadership skills.
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders in regards to internship requirements.
Demonstrate ethics and comply with the Corporate Compliance Program.
Work cross-departmentally to further the mission of Goodwill Central Texas.
Attend staff and other organization meetings as required by Workforce Advancement.
Associate’s degree with a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with clients in employment counseling, placement, education and human services. Three or more years of direct related experience can substitute for the two-year degree. Minimum of 1 year experience with socially disadvantaged individuals (e.g. Homeless, Ex-offenders, and Low Literacy etc.) and individuals with disabilities.
Must possess understanding of marginalization and how it impacts those Goodwill serves and employs.
Exhibit respect for diversity of thought and have experience to advance it in teams/organization.
Must demonstrate a maturity of practice using the 7 pillars and principals of servant leadership.
Experience in working one-on-one with individuals to address job behaviors.
Proficient in oral and written communication skills, including interviewing skills.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other Social Media applications.
Valid Driver’s License, good driving record, liability insurance, vehicle in good working condition to travel on work related business in order to meet client location/service delivery needs.
Experience with clients with disabilities.
